One of the things that has always interested me and something I love to do is business consulting. Let me be clear about a few things first. First of all, as a consultant for small businesses, the consultant (like a teacher) gets the most out of the consultation. Secondly, in my mind a business is merely a reflection of the owner or the people involved in that business. I would like to share my most recent and most reoccuring concept lately it is: clarity.

Clarity is so powerful. The advice, if you can call it that, or idea I have stressed the most with the people I am currently working with has been to get ‘crystal’ clear with everyone and everything that they are dealing with. We have a tendency to tolerate verbal agreements, ambiguities, undefined roles, and cloudy objectives. I specifically used the word tolerate because with a long term perspective, meaning the ability to see the choices we make and their accompanying results, we would not allow any unclarity. Unclarity creates liabilities, loss of trust, and many other undesirable consequences. 

What is possible?

I believe it is possible to create clarity in every area of life. We can be so clear in our communications that we cannot be misunderstood. We can capture every agreement we make in black and white. We can define roles and responsibilities so that accountability is easy. We can be clear with our intentions and rejuvenate relationships. There are many possibilities as far as clarity is concerned. My experience is that the more clear that I am the more certainty I have in my life (please see my post titled: ‘Nothing Cheaper than Certainty’, also post titled ‘Clarity.’) . If we are as one of my mentors said ‘Abundantly Clear’ we will be clearly abundant. Abundance is knowing the outcome, or knowing that the outcome will be desirable. Clarity breeds clarity. The more clarity we have the more abundance we will enjoy.
